Duwamish Tribe’s Cecile Hansen dedicates new boat

With beautiful weather in Seattle today, our first-ever brand-new boat, the “Duwamish River,” was dedicated by Cecile Hansen of the Duwamish Tribe along the banks of the Duwamish River.

The beautiful new Pocock 4+/x has that wonderful new boat smell — its seats glide silently, and its smooth finish feels like it was rubbed in olive oil. The vessel, built by Bill Tytus and his team, seems fit for space travel. This newest addition to our fleet was made possible thanks to support from the Duwamish River Opportunity Fund of the City of Seattle.

The first sprinkling of Duwamish River water on the boat was performed by Cecile’s granddaughter, who is the great-great-great-great granddaughter of Chief Seattle! That’s a lot of greats for the Duwamish River and the “inside people” in attendance today. (Duwamish translates to “the inside people”).

Thank you to the tribe and community for everyone’s support!!!
